We are seeking three motivated Post-doc fellows in the field of bioinformatics, at LAB-GTP (http://www-labgtp.na.icar.cnr.it), Naples, Italy.
The fellowships are funded by two successful Italian Ministry for Research applications:
- Evaluation of gene variants in the study of inherited disease through large scale analysis of genomic sequences;
- Evaluation of the effect of specific genes and molecules on transcriptional patterns by means of array hybridization and/or large scale analysis of transcribed sequences.
The candidate will be researching and developing novel:
- Algorithms and software for the statistical evaluation of patterns of gene expression and their association to clinical phenotypes;
- Algorithms and software for the systematic study of RNA regulators;
The Laboratory is located in CNR Research Area of Naples, and works in collaboration with other medical, genetics and biology institutes and companies. The scientists working at the Lab have different backgrounds, ranging from biology and biotechnology, to mathematics, statistics and computer science.
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
a) Master degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Biology, Engineering, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and title of Doctor of Philosophy with a minimum duration of three years relevant to the themes of this call;
b) All qualifications obtained abroad (master degree, doctorate, and any other qualification) shall be, as a rule, previously recognized in Italy in accordance with the legislation in force (information on the website of the Ministry of University and Scientific Research : www.miur.it). The equivalence of those diplomas obtained abroad that have not already been recognized in Italy with the expected formal procedure above, will be evaluated by a commission;
c) experience in methods for the analysis of biological data, in particular in supervised and unsupervised learning methodologies, prototyping languages (such as Matlab , R, Python), OO programming languages (such as PHP, Java), programming languages for databases (SQL).

The full scholarship is 22K€ per year, plus allowances for equipment and travel.
